accent is a made up of two like minded friends, dave standley and mark grover, who wanted to create and promote an event that shares their ideas and passions with the music community.
accent’s founders make the perfect combination! they have contrasting styles of music, however share the same ideas when promoting and entertaining a crowd. they feel the best way to entice people to an event, and eventually having a great time is to ease them in gently with some chilled vibes, then starting to build the crowd when they are ready.
accent offers quality dj’s playing the best in minimal, electro, jackin’ house, progressive house and deep house which evolves with the vibe of the crowd.
accent currently has a monthly event on the last Saturday of each month at the southside bar. this is a very successful event that pulls a large numbers of people from south London. they are also jointly involved in La Resaca which is a Sunday chill out event.
accent has also successfully put on events at numerous bars and clubs in London and the south and north of England.
dave standley started dj’ing 8 years ago with a group friends when he started to get involved in the local music scene in the south of england. He then moved to London and discovered a new more exiting music scene. initially he started listening to progressive house and tech house, however, lately has had a lot of influence from america, especially chicago’s music scene. he also enjoys playing more chilled out melodic minimal and electro, as well as 60’s and 70’s jazz-funk, funk and boogie.
dave’s influences include dj’s and producers such as sasha and digweed, halo and hipp-e, onionz, joeski, layo and bushwacka, derrick carter, the inland knights, and jay tripwire.
mark grover began his musical career over 13 years ago playing in bands and has performed in music venues all over the north and south of england. mark discovered his passion for electronic music in 1992 through his best friend elia (hotpace) who used to smash his ears in with bootleg tapes whilst they bezzed around in his souped up astra gti. mark’s influences include dj’s and producers such as steve bug, richie hawtin, gaiser, zentex, guido schnider, marc houle, joris vroom, jeff mills, sven vath and Patrick chardronnet.
dave’s and mark’s previous events and gigs include:
ministry of sound,
turnmills,
coronet,
point blank radio,
southside bar, and
numerous bar and university events in London, and the south and north of england.
