Judgement Sundays at Eden, Ibiza

09.07.06

I went to Judgement Sundays at Eden 3 years ago and I've got to admit I wasn't impressed one bit. It was like visiting a local run of the mill nightclub in the UK, not what I was expecting from an Ibizan superclub.

Billed as 'San Antonio's busiest night' I was keen to see what they had to offer. Fortunately, I was very pleasantly suprised to see that much more effort had been made this time to transform Eden into a clubbers paradise. Decor such as inflatibles hung from the ceiling flashing the Judgement Sundays logo across the club. A laser fired off from the back wall projecting its way down the centre of the club whilst the lights and many dancers provided plenty to keep your eyes busy. The entire club was open including the upstairs balcony and it certainly was busy. At times around the dance floor it became quite difficult to move.

Judge Jules (as you'd expect) provided the main set of the night and he was very warmly welcomed by the crowd onto the decks. I couldn't help feeling that he didn't really interact with the crowd that much and that it was something he just had to do. I saw him a week later at Dance Valley and he was definitely far more fired up and enjoying it there than at Eden. That said he played a wicked set and the crowd loved it.

In the second, much darker room Krafty Kuts mixed up some breakbeat and that room proved to be extremely popular too often as busy as the main room.

Drinks were fairly reasonably priced (for an Ibiza club anyway) at around 8 euros for a bottle of beer and 6 euros for a bottle of water.

In summary Judgement Sundays is a great night out and if you're staying in San Antonio then its an absolute must. There's loads of pre-parties nearby and Eden is right in the heart of San Antonio's nightlife. Its a busy night so make sure you get your ticket quick particularly in August. We entered about 2am and is was already very busy, particularly for an Ibiza club.

You can see photos from the event in the UKCD Photo Gallery.
